ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Sites representatives received first place in the Beautification and Community Improvement category at KLB's 2009 State Conference. They received the award for their work on the Baton Rouge Complex Greenbelt project. This category recognizes efforts to improve, beautify and preserve visual aspects of communities.

Shreveport Green representatives received first place at KLB's 2009 State Conference in the Litter Prevention category for their Neighborhood and Education Program. The Litter prevention award recognizes litter prevention activities that were used to change the attitudes and behaviors of citizens in
communities. Shreveport Green received the award for their Clean Community Challenge litter awareness and education programs.

This year’s State Conference keynote speaker was Del Boyette of Boyette Levy in Atlanta, GA. A seasoned economic development professional with roots in Northeast Louisiana and experience far beyond our state and region offered insight into the role clean communities play in today's competitive business environment.

Keep America Beautiful President & CEO Matt McKenna discussed individual responsibility for improving community environments and also presented KLB's Jackie Poole with the President George W. Bush's Volunteer Service Award.

Keep America Beautiful National Director of Education Sue Smith
explained how stories are an effective tool in communication and persuasion. She offered insight on how one community’s story can make a difference, from local improvements to economic development.

KLB's Ann Wilson, with her parents by her side, was also presented with the President's Volunteer Service Award, which is given to Americans who have made time to help their neighbors, communities, and Nation through service. Recipients must dedicate at least 4,000 hours – or two years – to service over the course of their lives.
